Past Talks and Events:
“Clare came to support our Recycle Week campaign at Quorn Foods by hosting a lunchtime workshop – sharing her amazing experiences, plus facts & figures about ocean plastics – drivers, impacts, solutions. All incredibly eye opening, fascinating and always focussing on the positives rather than feeling like a lecture or telling off. Fully recommend – thank you Clare, you truly are an inspiration!”. Louise Needham, Quorn Foods.
Quorn Foods, North Yorkshire. September 2018.
I ran a series of workshops for their Recycle Week. This included an interactive quiz and, as you can see from the image, Ocean Sole creatures. Quorn ordered a bespoke flip flop Q for their reception.
World Travel Market, Excel London. November 2018.
I joined the Incredible Oceans team to talk to the tourist industry about plastic pollution solutions. I made this short vlog about my experience.
Yestival, Brinsbury Campus. October 2018.
I delivered a talk / workshop at the festival about ‘How to Adventure with Less Waste’.
SSE Enterprise Utilities, Shoreham-By-Sea. September 2018.
“Clare helped a team from SSE Enterprise Utilities pick up rubbish on Shoreham Beach. She gave us some top tips, helped us with safety and inspired us to put our back into it. It has changed a lot of attitudes at SSE and we are planning a couple more rubbish collecting events now across GB. Really inspirational! Well done Clare and many thanks for your help!”. Neil Turner, SSE Enterprise Utilities.
World Travel Market, Excel London. November 2017.
Along with Incredible Oceans, we took some of the waste from Paddle Pickup to encourage tourist boards and travel leaders from around the world to think about solutions to ocean plastic.
#PlasticActionBasecamp, Brighton. May 2018.
I was a speaker at this well attended community event discussing solutions to plastics and how Brighton and Hove could achieve plastic free city status. The event was run by Brighton Climate Action Network and I was on the organisation committee. I also joined the panel debate at the end.
“Clare came to Malago WI to tell us about her amazing kayaking trips, the huge problem of plastic pollution and how we could all do our bit to help. It was a truly inspiring evening with lots of great ideas for us all to try. We all went home promising ourselves that we’d do more to reduce our plastic waste (but not beat ourselves up for the occasional transgression)”. Lucy Culliford, Malago WI.
Steppes Beyond Festival, Royal Geographical Society, London. September 2017.
I attended with Incredible Oceans and the rubbish that I picked up out of the water ways on Paddle Pickup Coast to Coast. Taking bags of stinky river rubbish to such a prestigious venue was definitely a first for me! See My Adventures page for more information about the expedition.
Malago Women's Institute, Bristol. June 2018
Yes Stories, London. September 2017
A video of the talk will be available shortly.
Telegraph Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show, Excel London. February 2017
An Incredible Oceans Event, I worked with the team from concept to delivery. I sourced the content and partners the ‘Oceans Solutions Zone’ with very limited budget. A Short film about the event can be found here.
